Admissions 

The admission criteria for PrideMed Health and Safety Institute includes several standard requirements typically found in health and safety training institutions. While specific criteria can vary, here are our general guidelines:
 

  1. Educational Background:

    • High school diploma or vocational school equivalent (e.g., GED)

    • Transcripts from previous education required for verification purposes
       

  2. Age Requirement:

    • Minimum age requirement, usually 18 years or older
       

  3. Prerequisites:

    • Generally no prerequisites and non-science background students welcomed

    • Some programs may require prerequisite courses or certifications, but contact us of any information. 
       

  4. Application Form:

    • All prospective students must apply.

    • Using completed application form provided by the institute
       

  5. Personal Statement or Essay:

    • Not required but welcomed for discount or scholarship purposes.

    • A personal statement or essay explaining the applicant's interest in the program and career goals.
       

  6. Letters of Recommendation:

    • Two (2) Letters of recommendation from previous educators, employers, or professionals in the field are required.
       

  7. Interview:

    • Not required but an interview with the admissions committee may be required to assess the applicant's suitability for the program for some programs.
       

  8. Background Check:

    • A background check is done to ensure the applicant has no criminal record, which is particularly important for healthcare-related fields
       

  9. English Proficiency:

    • All courses are done in English but provisions are made for non-English students.

    • For non-native English speakers, proof of English proficiency from previous educational institution required. 
       

  10. Health Requirements:

    • Health screenings or immunization records to ensure the applicant meets health standards for clinical rotation purposes.
       

  11. Fees:

    • Initial Registration fee of $50 is required for all online enrolments. 

    • Initial Registration fee of 200 GHS is required for all in-person enrolments (Ghana Students only). 

    • We accept installment payments for all students.

    • We accept full payment for all students prior to the completion of all courses.

Certificates

Homecare Support Worker (HSW)

Courses for Homecare Support Workers typically offer training in basic caregiving skills, personal hygiene assistance, home safety and emergency response, meal preparation and nutrition, light housekeeping, communication skills, and basic medical terminology and documentation. These professionals can work in clients' homes, assisted living facilities, adult day care centers, and community care centers. Job prospects are promising due to the increasing demand for elderly care, with opportunities in private homes, home care agencies, and community support services.

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Certified Nursing Assistant courses provide training in basic nursing skills, patient personal care, vital signs monitoring, infection control, communication skills, basic anatomy and physiology, and documentation and reporting. CNAs can work in hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, rehabilitation centers, and home healthcare settings. The demand for CNAs is high due to the growing need for healthcare services, especially for the elderly, leading to numerous job opportunities in various healthcare facilities.

Certified Echocardiogram Technician (CET)

Courses for Certified Echocardiogram Technicians cover topics such as cardiac anatomy and physiology, echocardiographic techniques, patient preparation, ultrasound physics, image acquisition and interpretation, and equipment maintenance. CETs can work in hospitals, cardiology clinics, diagnostic imaging centers, and outpatient care centers. Job prospects for CETs are strong, driven by the increasing prevalence of cardiovascular diseases and the need for diagnostic imaging.

Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT)

Certified Phlebotomy Technician courses include training in venipuncture techniques, capillary puncture, blood collection procedures, safety and infection control, specimen handling and processing, and patient interaction. CPTs can work in hospitals, clinical laboratories, blood donation centers, outpatient care centers, and doctors' offices. The demand for phlebotomy technicians is expected to grow as the need for blood tests and donations increases, providing good job opportunities in various medical settings.
